A photograph taken by Vernon's Christiane Molendyk has toured the country, as part of Nikon's 100th anniversary.
'Fly boarding', which captures a moment on Kalamalka Lake when a flyboarder just completed a twirl in mid-air, was also part of an exclusive photo contest for members of the Nikon Professional Services.
“Although I didn't win, I was super stoked when I was informed that one of my photos had been selected to be one of the 100 images to be part of (the Nikon) touring exhibition gallery,” said Molendyk, a professional photographer.
The Sept. 7 to 21 tour went to four major cities; Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary.
“I chose the image of the fly boarder, for a couple of reasons; it's a fairly new sport and there isn't an over saturation, it felt fresh. The fly boarders were wanting to set a Canadian record for the most fly boarders up at the same time, which they accomplished.”
Molendyk said she had never seen fly boarding until the day she shot the photograph.
“It was taken on our beautiful Kalamalka Lake and beautifully executed by the individual which allowed me to capture him at a peak performance.”
Last year, an image shot by Molendyk was selected for inclusion in a national exhibition.
